Torchlight Tales

  • Science Works 2 Booker Street Spotswood, VIC, 3015 Australia (map)

On Friday nights under torchlight the Spotswood Pumping Station comes alive with tales of the past.

For the first time ever, join us for an adults-only, after-dark walking tour of the Spotswood Pumping Station, as we explore its shadowy spaces and hidden history.

With just a torch to light your way, see the darkest nooks and crannies of the heritage-listed pumping station brought to life, as expert guides recount scary, tragic and inspiring tales from the past.

Learn about the lives of the men and women who helped rid the streets of sewage to transform “Smellbourne” into the Melbourne that we know today. Appreciate the superb historic architecture and the engineering feat that is the Pumping Station itself. Lose yourself in the atmospheric experience of stepping back in time, with a bygone era resurrected once again.

Arrive early to enjoy a drink at the bar or start the weekend with a bang and combine your tour with a fulldome film at Planetarium nights. You will need to book the 9pm film if you are doing the 7pm or 7.45pm tour. Or book the 7.30pm film if you are doing the 9pm or 9.15pm tour. Check Planetarium nights session times before you book to ensure your film and tour do not clash!

At the top of the 'things to do on the Westside' list this June, we recommend you book Torchlight Tales early to avoid missing out!
